Understanding How Lenire Works

The device plays sounds from headphones and provides gentle pulses to the tongue via a Tonguetip. The sounds and pulses work together to retrain your brain. You pay less attention to your tinnitus reducing its impact on your day-to-day life. Bluetooth headphones, which are provided, deliver customized sounds to activate the auditory nerve to the brain.

Tonguetip

The Tonguetip, specifically designed to treat tinnitus, sits comfortably in the closed mouth. Tiny electrodes on the Tonguetip deliver mild and safe energy pulses to the surface of the tip of the tongue.

Controller

A lightweight handheld device that controls the timing and intensity of the treatment. You can start, pause and resume the treatment session, adjust the volume of the sound, and adjust the level of the tongue stimulation.

What is the research behind Lenire?

Lenire is the first device of its kind to receive a grant of approval from the FDA to treat tinnitus. This follows a large-scale clinical trial designed to meet the FDA's requirements during which 83% of patients recommended Lenire for the treatment of tinnitus. The largescale trial's results were consistent with real-world evidence from 204 patients.

Lenire Patient Testimonials

‘My hope with the device was to try and reduce the level of tinnitus back to a level where I was comfortable, like prior to when I had the ear infection and from using the device that’s where I am now, I’m back to a situation where my tinnitus is much less prominent, much less distracting. The tinnitus did affect my interest in music because you say to yourself what’s the point if I’m not hearing properly. I can now go back to doing things that I wasn’t able to do over the past few years – writing and recording music. Going on the results I have I would recommend it.’

- Damian

‘ Well starting the trial I really didn’t hope for anything because after speaking to my GP and another person I knew that had it (but they were a lot older) you kind of thought well there’s no cure, so I kind of just went along with it, maybe hoping that it would work towards a cure. I didn’t really thing that I would benefit from it, but I’m delighted to say that I definitely have.’

- Dorothy

‘If ten was [how severe my tinnitus was] in 2015, tinnitus now is one, maybe two out of ten. Sometimes I just have this feeling in my head, this is a Lenire moment, I use it and then get the relief or comfort from it. I no longer worry about this tinnitus distressing me when I’m with friends….now I’ve full control of it. I definitely recommend it, it changed my life. I’m definitely more relaxed, it has to be because of Lenire.'

- Oria

'I think the outcomes from the trial were really positive for me - after the first 6 weeks I could already notice a reduction in volume of my tinnitus which was a great relief and very exciting, and then after the second 6 weeks I could notice a further reduction in volume, so it's not quite gone yet but it's made a big difference. And then furthermore the improvement of my mindset when I think about my tinnitus is arguably even more beneficial, so I feel now that it's something that I could have control over, it's something that I could continue to improve.'
